answered prayer

A good friend sent this to me as a way to encourage me and remind me that God is a God who loves to answer our prayers.  It may not always be in the way we expect, but He listens and He answers. AMAZING!

Getting answers
Prayer:  God please, if it be your will, can you send a Dr. or nurse who can bring comfort to John and Marissa and give them answers, give them direction, give them something of substance so they can take the next step while trusting in You fully.
Answer: This Yes was immediate (dr.meeting w/ them 01/05).
Psalm 118:8: "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."

Prayer for you now 01/06/10

I found this prayer online and am stealing it to put in my journal.

"Give John and Marissa repose, Lord;
a pause in their burdens.
Let there be minutes
where they experience peace, (Hawkeye Game!!)
not of man
but of angels.
Love them, Lord,
when others cannot.
Hold them, Lord,
when we fail with human arms.
Hear their prayers
and give them the ability to hear You back
in whatever language they best understand."

  1. Hello Marissa,
I've browsed over your blog for the last hour with a heavy heart. I stumbled upon your blog from the BabyBeBlessed site as I recently ordered dolls for our girls. Having no particular reason to visit the site I believe God directed me to your blog so I can encourage you. In March of this year we had our second daughter, Kinsley Grace, not far away in So IN. A month or so before the delivery we knew something wasn't right because I was not gaining weight... after being sent to a specialist we found out she has a very very very rare Chromosome Deletion. In fact, she is the only person we know of in the world with her exact genetic makeup. Having never seen this chromosomal abnormality before the doctors couldn't tell us what to expect so we were left to lean on God and not our own understanding. Her ultrasound showed strange cysts on her brain... they too had never seen cysts like this, but other than the cysts her anatomy looked fine. Over the next few days we found out there were problems with almost every organ in her 4lb 5 oz body. For 51 days she lived across the river in another state (KY) while life went on. Like your daughter, our first daughter also turned 2 while Kinlsey was in the NICU. I felt incredibly torn trying to balance time in both places... since March was still in cold/flu season the NICU was closed to siblings. I tell you all of this to first let you know that God will sustain you even when it doesn't feel like it. Also, to reaffirm that God does work miracles and answers prayer! Kinsley has a heart defect also which required a balloon valvuloplasty cath at 3 months... the heart surgeon told us he didn't expect the results to last since the aortic valve was not leaking. In the medical world the valve must be compromised for the procedure to produce lasting effects. Her heart doctor admittingly cannot explain how it worked... we know why the procedure worked! Her neurosurgeon said the cysts that were on her brain would never go away... never. Her last MRI showed the cysts were completly gone. We've learned that God answers prayer in His own timing and in His own ways. We know that He will use Kinlsey and us to glorify Himself just as he will work through the life or Malachi. Please know I'm praying for your precious Malachi. This is our Kinsley's site: http://kinsleygrace.blogspot.com/ & our family site with more recent pics http://www.tinybitofheaven.blogspot.com/

Also, not sure if you've met any other CHARGE families, but this is the CaringBridge site to one I met not to long ago: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/coleherrick His mother, Shawn is extremly nice and I'm sure she would be willing to talk with you if you have any questions. Having only taked with her once she was a wealth of information for me and my daughter doesn't even have CHARGE.

    Rest In Him,
    Tina
