PROGRESS! Today was a big day for our little man. He got his right atrial line taken out, his chest tube removed, and his catheter had been taken out as well. They took him off all of his paralytic medications yesterday around noon and they have greatly lowered his sedation medications, so he is pretty much just on pain meds and a low-dose diuretic. They also removed the pacemaker wires that had been in place and his chest incision was pretty much open to the air (to encourage quicker healing) held together with steri-strips. Basically, all of the tubes and things that needed to be taken out before being moved back to the NICU have been removed. It looks like he will be back up in the NICU on Monday (or so) and then probably 3 to 4 weeks of recovery before the choanal atresia surgery. Right now he just needs t oheal up and recovery from the open-heart surgery and pray that all continues to go well. When I went to visit him today, he was awake for the first 4 hours or so. He definitely appears to be interested in his surroundings and looking around. Such an amazing difference from how he had been with the paralytic meds!

On another note, my "nesting instinct" apparently kicked in. I went on a cleaning frenzy tonight and we got a lot accomplished around the apartment. Usually, this sort of thing happens BEFORE the baby arrives. I guess three weeks postpartum is better late than never! Hopefully, we'll have this place how we want it by the time we can bring Baby Chi home from the hospital!
