Malachi is stable. His numbers are all where the doctors would hope for them to be at this point in time. We pray that he is stable through the weekend so that they can take him back to the operating room to close up his sternum. We have been blessed to have great, caring nurses and staff to take care of our little one and we think he has already made an impression on those whose paths we've been fortunate enough to cross. Both of the neonatology nurse practitioners came down to pay a visit to our little man AND the NICU nurses that we've had on a regular basis. They just wanted to check in and see how things were going with him as well as with John and myself. Like I said, they've been great!

Thankfully, last night was pretty uneventful so the night nurse had some time to jazz up his room a little bit. She decorated the window with his name:

and she was also able to use some of the blankets we brought and dress up his bed a little bit (oh, and she also found a cute little football to prop up his arm with).
so this is how his "crib" is looking these days:

Last but not least, a quick pic of the happy (but very worn out) parents!

And who can resist a super cute not-quite-two-year-old? This little game went on for literally 15 minutes. She couldn't get enough of being in this little storage ottoman we have:

  1. NICU nurses are a special breed. Especially the ones who dress up the little incubators and cribs and decorate the rooms :) I'm so happy that the surgery went well and Baby Chi is stable. Praying with you for a quiet uneventful weekend, quick recovery for little Chi, and much strength and peace for you guys. Hang in there. Every storm passes.
